Assistant Principal
Position Overview
The Assistant Principal supports the school principal in providing educational leadership and managing daily
school operations. This role involves student discipline, instructional supervision, staff development, and
fostering a positive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
Assist in developing and implementing curriculum aligned with state standards and district goals
Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers
Support teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies and differentiated learning
Analyze student achievement data to identify areas for improvement
Coordinate professional development opportunities for staff
Student Management & Discipline
Oversee student discipline procedures and maintain a safe, orderly school environment
Investigate incidents and apply disciplinary measures consistently and fairly
Develop and implement behavior intervention plans for students with chronic issues
Communicate with parents regarding student behavior and academic concerns
Supervise student activities during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and transitions
Administrative Duties
Assist with master scheduling, student enrollment, and class assignments in Infinite Campus
Coordinate standardized testing and ensure compliance with testing protocols
Monitor attendance and truancy issues
Serve as acting principal in the principal’s absence
Participate in IEP meetings and support special education services
School Culture & Community Relations
Foster positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members
Support extracurricular activities and student organizations
Assist with school events, assemblies, and parent meetings
Promote equity and inclusion throughout the school community
Qualifications
Required
Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field
Valid state administrative/principal certification or license
Minimum 3-5 years of successful teaching experience
Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices
Preferred
Previous experience in school leadership or administrative roles
Experience with data-driven decision making
Bilingual skills Hmong or Karen preferred

Strong organizational and time management abilities
Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of education law, policies, and regulations
Proficiency with student information systems and technology
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations
Commitment to student success and continuous improvement
Working Environment/Physical Demands
Duties are normally performed under normal office conditions; school building is a multi-level building
that has an elevator and is accessible
Position requires moderate interaction with children of all ages
This work is generally done in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
where fumes or airborne particles are present, such as exhausts or chalk dust; and, where there may
be a slight risk of electrical shock when operating multimedia or laboratory equipment.
The typical noise level is considered to be moderate.
