Choir

In our choir program, students engage in the development of vocal techniques and music literacy within a collaborative setting. The curriculum encompasses a diverse range of musical styles, time periods, and cultural traditions from around the world. Students prepare music by exploring essential elements such as rhythm, melody, harmony, form, meaning, and expression. Just as important as the music, students learn to build relationships, express emotion, and cultivate leadership skills among their peers. They have the opportunity to showcase their talents through performances in school concerts and special events, as well as collaborations with various community ensembles.

G. Phillip Shoultz, III from Vocal Essence Singers of This Age (SOTA) came in to visit the Secondary Choir classes.  He worked on singing activities with the students and provided information about SOTA.

SOTA is a community organization that invites teenagers in grades 8-12 to create excellent music with new friends. Transportation and dinner are provided for every rehearsal and performance. Last year, several high school students at HOPE were involved with the group. All students in grades 8-12 are invited to join! More information and links to sign up are provided here.
