Secondary Science Physics Focus

This position will be for the 2024/2025 School Year

HOPE Community Academy is an accredited, public co-educational charter school comprised of primary,  intermediate, middle school, and high school levels. Hope Community Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher with a specialization  in Physics to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching middle school  and high school students, with a focus on engaging and inspiring young minds in the field of physics. 

Primary duties: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) 

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum and  educational standards, with a specific emphasis on physics concepts. 

• Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation,  critical thinking, and hands-on experimentation in the field of physics. 

• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities,  fostering a love for science and physics in middle and high school students. 

• Evaluate student progress through assessments, projects, and experiments, providing  constructive feedback to support academic growth and development. 

• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to ensure a cohesive educational  experience that supports the overall well-being and success of students. 

• Stay current with advancements in the field of physics education and integrate relevant  technologies and resources into teaching practices.

Professional Accountabilities: 

• Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum  development meetings and other professional activities. 

• Participates in various school events, staff meetings and extracurricular activities. 

• Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate  administrator. 

• Serve as a role model for promoting effective instruction and professionalism Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Physics, or a related field. 

• Teaching certification and licensure in Science Education. 

• Previous experience teaching middle school and/or high school students, with a focus on  physics. 

• Strong knowledge of physics concepts and principles, with the ability to effectively  communicate complex ideas in an engaging manner. 

• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. 

• A passion for education and a commitment to creating a positive and stimulating learning  environment for students. 

Working Environment: 

• Duties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment; school building is a  multi-level building that has an elevator and is accessible 

• Position requires extensive interaction with children of all ages 

• Duties may occasionally be performed on field trips away from school 

• Duties may occasionally be performed in outdoor environments, such as athletic fields or  playgrounds 

• Duties may occasionally be performed in varying weather conditions, such as hot or cold  weather. 

• Possible exposure to loud and noisy locations (e.g. loud classrooms or cafeterias; children  speaking or laughing loudly).
