SPED DUE Process Team Lead

This position will be for the 2024/2025 School Year

HOPE Community Academy is an accredited, public co-educational charter school comprised of primary,  intermediate, and middle school levels. Primary duties: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) 

• Assist in coordination of timelines, deadlines, and meetings for the Special Education team • Write IEPs in collaboration with Special Ed Case Managers 

• Summarize evaluations for Special Education 

• Ability to develop evaluation plans and use assessment tools to determine student eligibility for  specialized education. 

• Prepares for and leads evaluation meetings 

• Attend IEP meetings for note keeping 

• Maintains effective and efficient student records procedures concerning attendance, testing,  behaviors, progress, and related academic information. 

• Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the  learning process. 

• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents and other  professionals on a regular basis on matters concerning student behavior, abilities, school  programs, and academic programs; effective written communication skills related to writing  Individual Education Plans and Educational Evaluations. 

• Attends staff meetings to assist in developing individualized action plans, discuss student  progress, and develop related programs. 

• Leader of Special Education and Evaluation Planning meetings 

• Assists in supervising school day student activities and events. Collaborates with peers to  enhance the instructional environment.

• Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students (including student data),  parents, peers, administration and community. 

• Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group,  subject area, and/or program classification. 

• Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents,  administration and community. 

• Attends workshops, seminars and conferences as well as staff, department, curricular  development and committee meetings and staff development sessions as required. • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as (but not limited to): meeting deadlines including mandated due process timelines, honoring schedules, coordinating  with other staff. 

• Use relevant technology to support instruction; proficiency on use of software related to due  process (Spedforms). Comprehensive understanding of federal and state special education  statutes and rules. 

• Ability to organize and run team meetings related to due process mandates for students in  special education. 

Qualifications: 

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree with coursework in special education teaching, or  related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

• Special Requirements: MN Teaching License in the area of Special Education or related services. Preferred Experience / Qualifications 

• Passion for lifelong learning 

• Multiple licensure desired 

• Great communication skills 

• Knowledge of teacher-led school models 

Working Environment: 

• Duties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment; school building is a  multi-level building that has an elevator and is accessible 

• Position requires extensive interaction with children of all ages 

• Duties may occasionally be performed on field trips away from school 

• Duties may occasionally be performed in outdoor environments, such as athletic fields or  playgrounds

• Duties may occasionally be performed in varying weather conditions, such as hot or cold  weather. 

• Possible exposure to loud and noisy locations (e.g. loud classrooms or cafeterias; children  speaking or laughing loudly).
